授課目的： This course is aimed to introduce students with the centuries-old tradition of sea fiction in the field of Anglo-American literature. With the passing of sea life from the ages of sail and steam to the age of atomic-powered vessels, the characteristics of the sea community featured in the literary imagination remains the same: brotherhood, democracy, solidarity, fidelity, to name a few. After taking the course, the students are expected to appreciate the formal beauty and comprehend the thematic meanings ;
